I use this keyboard on my note 4. I like that you can resize it and the letters are bigger. It also has a more polished look. Check it out.  Maybe mega can include it in future roms if you guys like it.

Here's the link.

So Mega I couldn't find a stock rooted deodexed ROM for the tab A. Do whenever you get your article done on that, I'll take the stock and get it squared away.  There's not a lot of dev work going on for that tablet. Most of what is done is L.P.based. How difficult is it to go from a stock Odin file to stock rooted deodexed?

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
It's not very hard...you just pull the tar apart and run it thru a kitchen etc...it's just tedious and time consuming lol...I thought you had tab s the amoled tablet lol

If I had someone deodexing the bases for me that would be a huge time saver for devving more devices

Mega

I forgot to turn on notifications for the new site. Sorry for the late reply. Yeah that was a typo. I have a tab s. If you point me in the right direction so I don't screw it up I'll be happy to do the ditch digging part!

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Lol no worries bro...If its the 10.5 t800 I may have a base actually pulled apart just never built...but jsut google serach for a deodexed tab s base...just in case...and I can get to it much quicker

I spent 3 hours searching for one with no luck. Unless someone's ROM works then I couldn't find stock rooted. Either way if you teach me to do it, I'm happy to help you with any of your builds.

Latest Tech / Re: Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch!
« on: October 02, 2015, 03:36:02 PM »
How does the Gear work with the SIM card? I assume I need to get another one from T-Mobile, but does it share a number or is it is own number? How much does that cost? Wear has gotten better since you can start and reply to messages without taking out your phone, still can't make phone calls though, plus Tizen is a better for battery from what I hear, so they both have their pros and cons.

Sent from my SM-N910T3 using Tapatalk

Guess it's out now. Says released on 2nd Oct.  Going to see if bb has it. Now to check if want classic or reg

From my Fired up N3

Just saw was v2 trying to see if out our when comes out.  Worth waiting over regular s then?

From my Fired up N3
I thought they were just doing preorders later this month?  Really between s and s2 is just the shape... Now the gear s1 has the sim card in it where s2 classic doesn't have that option... The s2 tech looking one does but other than that they're probably pretty much functionally identical... So it's more a design choice than function... I have worn my everyday all day since getting it... I highly recommend it

Mega

Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
Yeah.  But the tech one isn't out for a while right.

The thing with s2 is have to run through my phone so no standalone basically right?
The other thing is would I be able to do next plan on it or is that only on s1 since sin card? With s2 I wouldn't need the additional plan right?

Just saw on bb site that s1 99$ with 2 yr contract which is tempting.  But if I can get s2 with next and not spend300-350 right now and not have an additional fee on plan might be best to.  Where I'm lost at

From my Fired up N3
I actually went a bit of a different route partially because my grandfathered AT&T plan but partially because I wanted to use my gear stand alone a lot... And I realize it was cheaper and more efficient to get a straight talk AT&T account because you get the same coverage and service but it's only 45 bucks on the month you feel like paying for it

With the gear s2 classic the one that I want that looks like the real watch it does not have the option at all to use it with a SIM card cuz its not build in... the rubber band one the sort of tech lookin one does have a 3G option with a SIM card not sure when it comes out tbh but its non removable and only through a carrier... where gear 1 you can use whatever sim you want its just like a phone...

Mega

Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
So for the 3g one I'd have to go buy it at att? I'm just not sure. I don't think standalone is really needed for the most part as I'll always have note with me when I have the watch. Kind of want best/cheaper route

From my Fired up N3
Well that's the thing... With the 3g enabled gear s1 you have a few options... One is a separate sim like I use... Another is a function built in if you go thru a carrier... Its like 5 to 10 a month extra but when your phone gets called it will remotely over the network forward the call or text to your watch as long as you have service and your note is on a network or WiFi connection...

In the winter time like if it's snowing or raining I rarely take my phone with me and I switch my main line and my watch Sims

Mega

Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
Yeah so o could leave phone and it goes to my watch which is one decent feature I like.  But I'd have to get that rubber band one for 300 to get a sim?  Att has s1 for 99 as well.

Other than the look is there any greater improvements to the s2 worth justifying the price or for 99 s1 well worth it

From my Fired up N3
As far as I can tell it's mainly just round vs squarish... and I can't say that the gear 2 will offer the same 3G style options Greg made a good point it may just be for Internet or whatever it's hard to tell until I actually get to use it because they advertise all the gear s stand alone and auxiliary futures out of the gate yet I haven't heard much about gear s2...to me I like the gear s I love the 2 inch screen and features... I also like the classic look... my plan when I get the gear 2 classic will probably be use that when I'm Bluetooth tethered to my note which is a lot of the time... Then just rock my original gear a standalone whenever I want it

And if it's your first foray into smart watches especially these really complex and smartphone ask smartwatches a gear s is definitely an amazing starting point its hands down the best smart watched thats ever been made with all the best features and functions just like a phone plus to be a lot cheaper... Imo there's smartwatches then there's the gear s line...

Mega

Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
OK.  So sounds like gear s might be best option right now cause I can standalone or tether.  And larger screen is a plus for my larger hands and 200-250 less right now

From my Fired up N3
For sure dude I totally agree and I highly reco it gear s1... plus it gives you an advantage because not only will you have a stand-alone gear so if in the future you want to update to the newer one or a third comes out you'll have a much better view of the type of features you need in it and what you actually use it for because not everybody does text with it or calls with it but because it comes stock with basically every app and feature a phone does... you'll find your niche for it... I mean hell it even uses here now maps so you can do live navigation from a watch... It also has built in WiFi ect it's an amazing piece of kit... It basically an s3 in a watch band

Mega

Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
Yeah. Now I think I'm going this route.  Do I use it stock or you able to kit it up better and do u use a screen protector for it or is there one? I'll end up scratching face at pt if isn't one

From my Fired up N3
Stock..  the AT&T one the bootloader is locked... but I never found a reason to even try and root it to be honest it's been hands down the best stock experience I've ever used... I plan on learning tizen dev tho

It's got a sapphire screen so I rock it naked... and I hit it against a brick wall and never scratched it...

So I've got a few articles I'm working on...

Snapdragon 810 breakdown
Explanation of root
Comparing some current devices and some on the horizon

What are some other ideas for articles you guys would like to read? Any cool ideas for reviews or writes up?

This would be no small write up but how about how to build a rom mega style.

Could even be done in modules or sections as im sure in its entirety would be huge.

Sent from my Nexus 6 or Note 4
Hahah I don't even know how I build them lol I can't imagine...there's at least 200 modifications additions or changes in each build lol... loving where your heads at... But I'm thinking more along the lines of how to make a deodex and start small lol

Mega

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
The article ideas I'm digging. May have to break it in sections if your going deep into teaching though. I'd definitely like to see a deodex tutorial/article.
Starting small is a great idea. Alot of people get overwhelmed by trying to do too much at once. So, yeah, how about using adb to pull certain things (/app, /priv-app, /framework, etc.) Taking a stock update to deodex, perhaps a quick apk tool article, just how to install frameworks, and decompile/recompile with no changes. Building a rom is ALOT for someone interested but uninformed to take in. Maybe a beginners guide to starting in the android scene? Like a "start small, little bites only" type thing. Pull apart a zip to see what goes inside? I'm just throwing ideas out there. Man the list can go on and on and on lol.

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk 2
No I really doubt I'm gonna go too technical...what I wanna do is answer the hard technical questions in laymens terms it'd far more beneficial imo...there's prolly 1000 write up for generic dev work at this point on xda or other sites or dsxidas guides ect ..I wanna write stuff relevant to everyone not like 3 people out of 1000...that may change as we progress but the intention was never really to be a dev forum I wanna make a community where everyone is welcome

Device reviews
Explanation of what each bit of a rom is and does
Difference between deodex and odex
What's a kernel, boot loader, root ect stuff like that makes sense and what im thinking along those lines

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 / Re: PopRocks N4 Tmo 5.0.1 Lp
« on: October 01, 2015, 04:23:26 PM »
Then you have the "die hard always on the latest build goofs" that come to FK/PR and state that 5.1.1 is blowing 4.4.4/5.0.1 out of the water in terms of battery efficiency and performance ... and I just look at a comparison of our note 4 running FK/PR and laugh my testicles off! X'D

Sent from Mega's Finest FKv19XxX

Having worked several years at a cell phone OS OEM company in their QA department, I know just how hellaciously expensive it is to release a new version to the manufacturers and even more when they release to the cell phone companies.  I just can't imagine that they would go through all that testing, all the expense to push out a new build that does basically nothing.  And when I worked at Amazon on the kindle OS, I know that we would never release a new build unless it at the minimum matched the previous build's performance (Our actual goal was a 10% increase in performance build to build.)

At the minimum there would be a number of bug fixes to both the google base, and the tmobile mods.  That's the reason I like staying at the most recent build.  I've worked with TMO when with the cell phone OEM company, there is no way they would push out a new build without major bug fixes.

Just an insiders view.

Haha I bet it'll be killer...you see they did a nexus?

Mega

Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
yea i knew they were doing one but didn't know they came out with it already...it looks pretty decent but i am useless when it comes to price:feature comparison...would you pick one up/consider getting one?
Imo no... Snapdragon 810 is a deal breaker unless Qualcomm has addressed the architectural issues of that soc... Highly unlikely... I have a writeup on it coming.. The biggest issue I have is the price... You can get a mate 7, nexus 6, or nearly a n4 for the $549 64gb... No removable battery or SD... Imo it's too generic for the price to make sense... M7 is far better equipped and feature packed... N4 obviously... Nexus 6 has 6 inch 2560 screen with front speakers ect...itd have to have some amazing thing up its sleeve for me to see it worth the money when the Moto X is nearly identical with SD card slot and Sony imx230 camera
